All About Lash Lifting

February 28, 2019

Hey beauties!

You may have noticed we have been busy bees attending trainings and introducing new services and products to Bare Essentials. If you feel a little bit like your head is spinning trying to keep up with what’s what, have no fear! That’s what I’m here for!

Today the spotlight is on one of our new services - Lash Lifting! Now, the name itself is pretty explanatory, the procedure is used  to lift the lashes up, creating the illusion of bigger, brighter eyes. It is often used in place of lash extensions or as a way to speed up the morning makeup routine. But what you’re likely wondering is how do we achieve the lash lift?

Let’s start at the beginning. A lash lift is not one size fits all. In fact, they are completely customisable based on your eye shape and the amount of lift you’re looking for. Your technician will talk to you about the look you’re trying to go for and may ask you a few questions about the condition of your lashes. If you’re like me and your hair doesn’t curl easily, that is something you may want to bring up to your technician. Most of the hair on our body will grow the same way, so if holding curls is an issue you face with your hair, you will likely face it with your lashes too.

Once your technician gets a good idea of what you’re looking for, they will pick a roller. And then the fun begins!

First, your technician will apply a silicone mould to the top eyelid and a protective cotton pad underneath the eye. The silicone mold is what will be used to lift the lashes. Next, your lashes will be glued to the mould and a lifting serum will be applied over top of that. This will be left on for a little bit depending on how thick your lashes are.

Once the appropriate amount of time has passed, a setting solution will be applied and allowed to work its magic. This will lock in the lifting action that just occurred. Should you opt (and you should!) for a lash tint, that will then be applied and allowed to sit depending on how dark you want your lashes to be, and then everything will be wiped off and unglued. The whole process takes roughly an hour and the results are immediate!

You will want to avoid getting your lashes wet for 24-48 hours after the lift, and this includes putting on mascara. However, after the initial 24-48 hours, you can apply mascara to give your lashes even more oomph!

The great thing about lash lifts is that there really isn’t any aftercare. The lift will hold for 6-8 weeks depending on your natural lash cycle and will begin to look flatter as your lashes shed. There is no need to brush them or worry about side sleeping, you can just go back to your regular routine! It’s a great way to skip the makeup routine while on vacay or just to speed up your morning ritual. It’s also a great option for people who may be allergic to the lash glue used for extensions. Lifting also tends to be cheaper and is much easier on your lashes.
