The Top Brow Trends of 2019
January 17, 2019
Hey BE Babes!
Can you believe we’re just over halfway through January!? A new year means there are plenty of new trends on the rise, and a few trends making their way into the history books. It seems like the perfect time to talk about the up and coming brow trends of 2019!
The past few years have seen a resurgence of the full brow. Gone are the days of over-plucking, pencil thin or even complete removal of brows. (Scary that not having eyebrows was a thing, right?) The past couple of years saw the rise of the Instagram Brow - a perfectly sculpted brow made up of concealer, brow pencils, brow gel, brow pomade and a bunch of time spent in front of the mirror.
However, 2019 seems to be ushering in the year of the more natural brow. Brows similar to those of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will be all the rage this year. The look consists of fluffier hairs brushed up in the front and gentle grooming more towards the tail. The full look is still in, but sharp, crisp lines are starting to fade away in favour of a more natural shape. Check out the pic below to see what I’m talking about.
To achieve this look, let your brows grow out and become a bit more ‘wild’ looking. Some sites suggest not waxing, threading or plucking them. However, forgoing a trim and cleaning up the stray hairs can help create a more natural look. Brush up the front and fill in any bare spots with a pencil. Brush out the end of the brow and set with a brow gel. If you’re someone who doesn’t have naturally full brows, tinting is all the rage this year and can help brows look fuller. Learning how to use a brow pencil can be a lifesaver in this aspect as well!
If you’re not really into the whole au naturel look, the Contour or Ombre brow are on the rise this year. This style is lighter in the front and comes to a darker, crisp point at the tail. It isn’t quite as harsh or block-like as the Insta-brow, but it does help to shape and frame the face. If you want more info on how to achieve this look, check out this article.
On the even less natural end of things, playing with colour and contrast is in this year. I’m talking pink, blue, orange, green… whatever colour your heart desires. Try using a little eyeshadow or a fun brow pomade for a temporary, funky brow.
If you’re not really into purple brows, the other big trend this year is contrast between your hair and brow colour. Light hair? Try tinting your brow darker. If you have dark hair, lighter brows were all the rage at New York Fashion Week.
So there you have it, the top brow trends coming into 2019. If you were never able to perfect the Insta-brow look, now is a great time to start perfecting one of the up and coming trends! Which one will you try first?
