It's My First Visit - What Should I Expect?

If you’re reading this, you’re likely thinking about stopping by for your first visit! Well first off, thanks for choosing Bare Essentials! A lot of people aren’t sure what to expect when they first come to BE. Some people are expecting a serene, quiet spa, some aren’t. So here’s what you should know when you first come in to BE!


We define ourselves as a wax bar. Not sure what that is? Well, we’re not a spa, so you won’t find any soft music or robes here. We specialize in speed waxing, which means our appointments are considerably shorter than those you would you have at a spa. To keep our appointments short, we don’t leave the room while you get prepared for your appointment. We will turn our backs and get ready while you get ready.


Now, some people find it off putting that we don’t leave the room. However, this helps us keep appointment times short. We also don’t provide a towel to ‘cover up’. On top of reducing the amount of laundry we have to do, it’s one less thing that needs to be moved around. I mean really, who wants to be in pain for longer than they need to be?


When you first arrive, you will be asked to fill in a new client form. We do this for any client that comes in, whether it’s for waxing, threading or one of our other services - it’s our policy! We get you fill this out because there are certain things we need to know about your skin or should be aware of before we proceed with your service.


Yes, we know a lot of other salons won’t ask you to fill out anything like this. However, certain medications or skin conditions may prevent us from completeing your service. We’d rather know this information up front, than find out after the first strip comes off. We want to make sure your experience, while quick, will be a pleasant one!


You can expect that your appointment will be quick. And I mean QUICK. We are known for being able to complete brazilians in less than 15 minutes. Yes, less than 15 minutes! Some people feel this is rushed, but this is normal for us! Almost 90% of our appointments include a brazilian, so we’ve gotten pretty good at them in our time doing this. If you’re weary about how fast we were done, feel free to take a moment to check over our work! We’d much rather know about any missed hairs before you go so we can fix them! We will leave the room to allow you to get changed, so you will have a moment to make sure you’re happy with the results!


Lastly, we are a very busy little spot! If you’re late to your appointment, we will do our very best to squeeze you in! However, depending on how long your appointment is and how late you are, we may not be able to fit everything in. We ask that all new clients show up 10 minutes early so they have time to fill out the new client form.


On the same token, if you’re looking to add addtional services, your best bet is to call the day before and see if we can sneak it in. Smaller services can sometimes to squeezed in, but anything longer than 5 minutes won’t be easy for us to fit in. We’re often booked back to back, so while we will try to sneak it in for you, we can’t make any promises!
