How to get Your Best BROzilian!
January 9, 2019
If you’re reading this, you’re likely considering getting your first wax or are doing a little research before taking the dive into waxing. We get it - having your nether regions waxed can be a little intimidating! But it doesn’t have to be. Believe it or not, there are some things you can do to make waxing a little easier.
To begin, it’s crucial to understand the difference between the Speedo, Deep Speedo and Brozilian. The Speedo is the equivalent to the women’s bikini - it’s just the hip crease. The Deep Speedo goes about two finger widths in from where the Speedo stops. And finally, the Brozilian gets rid of all the hair down there.
Okay, now that that is out of the way, let’s get to our top tips for your best bro, shall we?
The Hair needs to be long enough.
Okay, so this seems like it should be pretty obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t realize that a few days growth is simply not enough for the wax to pick up. For best results, the hair needs to be at least the length of a grain of rice.
If you’re someone who shaves, let the hair grow for at least 2-3 weeks.
Exfoliation is key!
When it comes to any sort of waxing, exfoliation is key before and after! Investing in a good quality sugar scrub will make all the difference in the world. If you’re not sure, we recommend The Scrub, which can be found in salon.
Once you’ve got your scrub, start using it! Exfoliate 24 hours before your waxing appointment. This will bring any trapped hairs to the surface and clear away dead skin, prepping the hairs to be grabbed by the wax.
After your wax, you will want to wait 24 hours before exfoliating again. Exfoliating too soon afterward may cause some irritation, so wait until the next day before scrubbing up. Keep up with exfoliating 2-3x a week, or every other day. This will help keep ingrowns at bay and give you the clean finish you’re looking for.
Follow all Instructions
This is key during your appointment! When it comes to men’s waxing (especially the more intimate areas), there are specific instructions that are crucial to ensure you get your best wax possible. For example, your esthetician will ask you to hold or stretch, so make sure you do just that!
Failure to follow these instructions could mean anything from missing hairs to potentially bruising the more delicate skin. If you’re unsure about a particular direction, don’t hesitate to ask your esthetician for further explanation.
After your wax, avoid hot showers, hot tubs, saunas and anything that could cause heat/chafing
If this is your first time getting waxed, you may not have thought about things you need to do (or not do) after getting waxed. If you’re someone who works out or plays sports regularly, it may be a good idea to hold off from those activities for 24 hours to ensure your skin has the time to heal post wax. Resuming high levels of activity immediately after a wax can result in chafing. If you MUST work out, baby powdering the area before can help reduce the likeliness of irritation.
You also want to avoid anything that will cause extra heat in the area for 24 hours post wax. Your pores will be vulnerable after waxing, and adding heat to that can result in unwanted bumps and ingrowns. If you do need to take a shower, just make sure the heat isn’t too high.
Lastly, some people decide after their first wax that maybe this isn’t the right path for them. I implore you - try it one more time before writing it off completely! Your first wax is always the worst one. As long as you don’t shave in between and come at regular 4 week intervals, it does get easier!
And there you have it, the top tips to get your best bro! Still have questions about your wax? Don’t hesitate to get in touch about your concerns!
